BIOGRAPHY: Sketch provided by Arthur Gibbony:
BIOGRAPHY: Katrina Winebrenner, 4th child of Catherine Winebrenner, widow of Germany, was born 12 January 1745 in Germany, in the Palatinate on the river Rhine in Baden, and it is believed she died about 1834, aged about 89 years, in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. She very likely is buried there on one of the farms her husband owned, though no headstone or other record has been found as yet.
BIOGRAPHY: She came to America with her widowed mother and three brothers, arriving at the port of Philadelphia 29 September 1753. They all went at once or soon to York County, Pennsylvania, and settled near Hanover. The first reference to her was found in York County, Pennsylvania Orphan’s Court Records, Docket A, page 137 of 26 March, 1760, where it refers to the children of the deceased widow “Catherine Wyanbrenner”, and shows age of Katrina as “aged 15 years on last 12 January. Thus we learned date of her birth. The same record shows that on 26 May 1861, her guardian Henry Wolf, bound Katrina, then 16, apprentice to Philip Weaver, until she became eighteen years old.
BIOGRAPHY: She married Jacob Gibler of Somerset County Pennsylvania who was born about 1749 and died about 1812, about 63 years, in Somerset County, and is likely buried on the farm he owned. He was a prosperous and successful farmer, and owned several farms, totaling some 385 acres at the time of his death. Record of Administration of his estate is on file in Somerset County Court House.
