He enlisted in the service on 10 may 1917 in Co. E 15th U.S. Engineers, known then as the 5th Reserve Engineers. He went to France by way of England, staying in England only 4 days. Being in the Service of Supplies His outfit helped construct railroads, warehouses etc. After the Armistice he left France arriving in Hoboken, New Jersey april 1919 and was discharged at Camp Sherman, Chillicothe, Ohio on 15 May 1919.
