BIOGRAPHY: Isaac Winebrenner, first child of Jacob and Elizabeth Shiveley Winebrenner, was born 26 March 1821 at Liberty, Montgomery County, Ohio and died about 1898 aged 77 years in Whitley County, Indiana near Churubusco, and is buried there. There is no headstone.
BIOGRAPHY: Married, 17 December 1843, in Darke County, Ohio, Sarah Clear (county record) born 27 January 1822 and died 20 January 1911 aged 89, near Churubusco, Indiana and is buried there.
BIOGRAPHY: About 1854, he and family moved from Ohio to Indiana, settling near Vernon, Wabash County, Indiana where he farmed and was a cooper. On 11 Aug 1862, Isaac enlisted and served in the civil war for 3 years; he was a Private in company A, 89th Indiana volunteer infantry. He was mustered in 28 August 1862 at Indianapolis, aged 41; mustered out 12 July 1865 at Mobile, Alabama. He was injured on 20 Jan 1864. He was injured in the abdomen in the war while loading wagons on a boat at Memphis, Tennessee. He stayed in the hospital there 4 months, and the injury bothered him until his death. He was discharged on 19 Aug 1865 after 3 yrs. of service, and returned to Wabash County. He farmed until 1880 when he moved to Whitley County, locating at Alma, near Churubusco where he farmed until his death in 1896. Isaac applied for a pension which was granted and in June 1882 he recieved his 1st check of $6.00 under certificate #214811.
